dr claudia benham

Dr Claudia Benham is an interdisciplinary marine and social scientist, and a Lecturer in Environmental Management at James Cook University. Her recent work has explored the ecological and social impacts of industrial development in Australia and the Pacific region, with a particular focus on coastal social-ecological systems in the Great Barrier Reef Region. Claudia previously worked for the Australian Government in environmental impact assessment and marine conservation planning and brings an applied perspective to her research practice. She has worked extensively with industry and community-based stakeholders to identify and strengthen collaborative governance and science-policy engagement, and regularly collaborates with researchers and stakeholders from across the university, government, NGO and industry sectors.
